Passenger planes look like in 2068? ( Please share for others)

Future_of_aviation_hero_new

What air travel might look like in 2068: Will the passenger planes of the future continue the look of the past 50 years or will there be whole new designs? Here are some of the concepts which might catch on.

If time travelers from 1968 found themselves in an airport today, there might be plenty of changes that surprise them. But the planes would look reassuringly familiar.
While there have been vast improvements in materials, engines and avionics -- helping 2017 become the safest year in aviation history -- commercial aircraft remain structurally similar to those of the 1960s.
In fact, the Boeing 737, one of the best-selling airliners ever in its many successive versions, flew for the first time in 1967.
But what might air travel look like 50 years from now?
Kyoto_Airship_-_Daytime_-_Landscape
The future of passenger planes: Today, commercial aircraft remain structurally similar to those of the 1960s. But with new concepts in the offing like Embraer's large-windowed Kyoto Airship, what might planes look like 50 years from now?

Over the years, there have been some attempts to change the aircraft design paradigm.
The 1970s promised a future of supersonic travel that never really took hold, apart from the limited flights of the Concorde and its Soviet equivalent, the Tu-144.
And, the idea of a blended wing airliner, resembling the stealth Northrop B-2 bomber, has sometimes been touted -- but without much success so far.
A combination of technical and financial reasons has led the aviation industry to discard these rather outlandish propositions and focus on the more canonical designs that are the norm today.
Will the next 50 years continue along the slow, steady path of the last half-century? Or will we once again see the rapid technological disruption that characterized aviation in the years between the end of World War I and the Apollo moon landings?
Don't be fooled by the apparent lack of spectacular breakthroughs. Some big changes are in the offing.
Boeing's Blended Wing Body Airlifter is a radical design in which the plane's body and wing merge into one fluid unit.

Lamborghini’s SUV Coming In 2018, Will Be Built In Italy

Lamborghini’s SUV Coming In 2018, Will Be Built In Italy

Lamborghini has finally green-lighted the development of a new SUV with production to take place at its Sant’Agata Bolognese facility in Italy.

The third model in Lamborghini’s tight vehicle range after the Huracan and Aventador will go on sale in 2018, with the VW Group-owned firm expecting annual volumes of around 3,000 SUVs, which will double the double the company’s current sales performance.
According to Lamborghini, the as-of-yet unnamed model will target “Lamborghini super sports car customers who to date have driven SUV models from other brands, as well as families and customers new to the Lamborghini marque”, and that the USA, China, the Middle East, United Kingdom, Germany and Russia will be its main markets.
“The introduction of a third model line endorses the stable and sustainable growth of the company and signifies for us the beginning of a new era,” said Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann. “The new SUV will be made in Sant’Agata Bolognese, demonstrating our commitment to safeguarding the values of ‘Made in Italy’ worldwide.”
Up until now, it wasn’t clear if Lamborghini would build the SUV in its home country or at the same Slovakian plant that produces the Audi Q7, but the company said it came to an agreement with the Italian government that will assist their effort. While Lamborghini did not reveal any details, it has been speculated that Prime Minister Matteo Renzi’s government will grant a number of tax breaks and other benefits to the company, which in turn, will invest “hundreds of millions of euros” to expand existing facilities and create new ones, as well as to hire 500 new employees.
Luca de Meo, Board Member for Sales and Marketing Audi AG commented: “Lamborghini is today one of the world’s most exclusive brands. We at Audi are very proud of all our Italian subsidiaries. I am delighted at this outcome for both Lamborghini and Italy, and thank the Italian government for their collaboration in helping to make this possible.”
The Italians had provided us with a vision of what a Lamborghini SUV should be like with the 5.0-meter long Urus Concept at the 2012 Beijing auto show, but it’s not clear yet if and what kind of changes will be made to the car by the time it reaches production.
What we know for sure is that the Lamborghini SUV will ride on a modified version of the platform that underpins the latest Audi Q7 and the upcoming Bentley Bentayga. We could see it use both V8 and V10 engines.

Kandy Esala Perahera

Kandy Esala Perahera

he Esala Perahera in Kandy is one of the oldest and grandest of all Buddhist festivals in Sri Lanka, featuring dancers, jugglers, musicians, fire-breathers, and lavishly decorated elephants. This is held in Esala (July or August) which is the month that is believed to commemorate the first teaching given by the Buddha after he attained enlightenment. The Kandy Esala Perahera lasts for ten days while various festivities can be witnessed right throughout. The Sinhalese term ‘Perahera’ means a parade of musicians, dancers, singers, acrobats and various other performers accompanied by a large number of caparisoned Tuskers and Elephants parading the streets in celebration of a religious event.
The Esala Perahera in Kandy is celebrated to honour the Sacred Tooth Relic and the four ‘guardian’ Gods Natha, Vishnu, Kataragama and Goddess Pattini. The Kandy Maligawa Perahera is followed in order by those of the Natha, Vishnu, Kataragama and Pattini ‘Devales’ (Temples dedicated to these Gods) which are situated in the vicinity of the Kandy Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth).
After the Kandyan Kingdom fell to the British in 1815, the custody of the Tooth Relic was handed over to the Buddhist Clergy. In the absence of the King, a lay custodian called the Diyawadana Nilame was appointed to handle routine administrative matters. The purpose of the Kandy Esala Perahera Procession is to beseech blessings of the gods to obtain rain for the cultivation of crops and to enrich the lands of the kingdom.
This ritual is performed by carrying the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha through the streets of the Kandy city which is done with exceptional panache. This is considered as one of the most beautiful pageants in the Asia.
The first ritual ‘Kap Situweema’ (planting of a sanctified young Jackfruit Tree) will be held to commence the rituals that start off Perahera. The ritual is performed according to an auspicious time decided by astrologers. The Jackfruit tree is sprinkled with sandalwood scented water and offerings are is made of nine kinds of flowers and an oil lamp with nine wicks. The priest of the Maha Vishnu Devale (Vishnu Temple) recites his prayers to all the gods.

History of the Kandy Perahera

Old Ceylon Kandy Perahera – the Kandy Perahera originates with the arrival of Prince Dantaha and Princess Hemamala, the son-in-law and daughter of King Guhasiva of Kalinga in India to Sri Lanka during the reign of King Kirthisiri Meghawanna (305-331 AD). Following the decree of King Kirthisiri Meghawanna that the Relic should be taken round the city of Anuradhapura once a year, the Esala Perahera had been followed by the succession of kings, though with interruptions caused by foreign invasions.

More details will be later...

Mahinda Rajapaksa.jpg

Background
Mahinda Rajapaksa was born in Weeraketiya in the southern rural district of Hambantota.[4] He hails from a well-known political family in Sri Lanka. His father, D. A. Rajapaksa, was a prominent politician, independence agitator, Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister of Agriculture and Land in Wijeyananda Dahanayake's government. D. M. Rajapaksa, his uncle, was a State Councillor for Hambantota in the 1930s who started wearing the earthy brown shawl to represent kurakkan (finger millet) cultivated by the people of his area, whose cause he championed throughout his life. It is from his example that Rajapaksa wears his characteristic shawl.[4]

Early life and education

Rajapaksa was educated at Richmond College in Galle, before moving to Nalanda College, Colombo and later Thurstan College.[4]Mahinda Rajapaksa was presented with the Nalanda Keerthi Sri award in 2004 by his alma mater, Nalanda College.[5] He has also appeared in the Sinhalese film Nomiyena Minisun in 1994 and worked as a library assistant at Vidyodaya University.[6][7] Later he studied law at the Sri Lanka Law College and took oaths as an attorney-at-law in November 1977.[8] Throughout his parliamentary career, except for the period from 1994–2001 when he was a minister, he continued his law practice in Tangalle.[4]

Family and personal life

In 1983 Rajapaksa married Shiranthi Wickremasinghe, a child-psychologist and educator. Shiranthi Rajapaksa is the daughter of E. P. Wickramasinghe, a retired Commodore of the Sri Lanka Navy.[9] The Rajapaksas have three sons, Namal, Yoshitha and Rohitha. In April 2010 Namal Rajapaksa was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Hambantota District, obtaining the highest number of preferential votes in his father's former district. Namal was again selected for the parliament by obtaining highest votes from Hambantota district in 2015 General Elections as well. Yoshitha was commissioned as an Acting Sub Lieutenant in the Sri Lanka Navy in March 2009.[10]
A number of members of Rajapaksa's family are currently active in politics.[11] One brother, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa a former military officer who served in the Sri Lanka Army for 20 years is the former secretary of the Ministry of Defense until Mahinda Rajapakse's presidency was over on 9 January 2015.
Another brother, Basil Rajapaksa, was elected to the Parliament of Sri Lanka from the Gampaha District obtaining the largest number of votes by any candidate in the April 2010 general election, and was appointed Minister of Economic Development. Basil was arrested in April 2015 for many corruptions.
His eldest brother Chamal Rajapaksa has been a Member of Parliament since 1989, and was elected Speaker of the 14th Parliament of Sri Lanka. Currently Chamal is a member of the parliament. Other family members involved in politics include his nephew, Shashindra Rajapaksa, who was the Chief Minister of the Uva Province. Shameendra Rajapaksa (second son of Chamal Rajapaksa), Director SriLankan Airlines, his cousins Jaliya Wickramasuriya, Sri Lanka's ambassador to the United States, Udayanga Weeratunga, Sri Lanka's ambassador to RussiaPrasanna Wickramasuriya, Chairman Airport & Aviation Services Limited Sri Lanka and Rajapaksa's brother-in-law Nishantha Wickramasinghe is the Chairman of SriLankan Airlines.[12]
Rajapaksa is known to be superstitious and wears talismans and consults astrologers in his decision-making.[13] He is known for acquiring a large number valuable rings as lucky charms, some with coloured stones and elephant hair and earned the reputation as a "Lord of rings". During a wedding he attended as a VIP guest he lost a gem-studded ring which was recovered after his security and hotel staff found the ring fallen near a VIP table after covertly searching under carpets and the washrooms.[

After 37 years Caught brother's Killer on Facebook

'After 37 years I caught my brother's killer on Facebook'

Nearly 40 years after the tortured corpses of a young British couple were discovered in Caribbean waters, and the trail for the killer went cold, a breakthrough came from an unlikely source on the other side of the world, writes Ben Dirs.
You can find anything on the internet. An old schoolmate, a long-lost cousin, an ex-girlfriend. A dog that ran away.
If they're not on there, someone will be who knows how to find them. In the age of social media, there is no escape.
On the afternoon of 2 October 2015, Penny Farmer returned from a walk in the Oxfordshire countryside, flipped open her laptop, fired up Facebook and typed in the name of the man she suspected of murdering her brother, back when the world was a bigger place.
And there he was. Grey beard. Baseball cap. Sunglasses. Denim shirt. Looking, Penny thought, just like a serial killer.
"Heaven knows why I didn't look earlier," says Penny, a cheerfully frank woman who tells her story without indulging in self-pity.
"I suppose I thought he was lost to us. He just seemed so remote and hidden. But thank God I did."
In July 1978, the bodies of Penny's brother Chris and his girlfriend Peta Frampton were found floating off the coast of Guatemala. They had been tortured, bound and weighed down with engine parts. The doctor who carried out the autopsy stated that "the aspects of [both corpses] were monstrous".
In Manchester, Penny's parents awaited Chris' next letter. Chris, a 25-year-old doctor, and Peta, a 24-year-old lawyer, were childhood sweethearts on an exotic adventure. Both wrote regularly, but in that pre-digital age, especially in Central America, communication was haphazard. Lapses were to be expected.
But when days turned into weeks, turned into months, the families of both Chris and Peta began to fret. Government authorities and police were notified, searches were carried out, appeals were made, sightings were reported.
Peta's letters to her parents had revealed that she and Chris had met an American and his two young sons in Belize, shelved their original plan to catch a bus to Mexico and decided to sail on the American's small fishing boat to Honduras instead. In the last letter she sent, Peta signed off with: "Nothing much happens on a boat."
Penny's father contacted the harbour master in Belize, who revealed that the Justin B had set sail with Chris and Peta on board but returned without them.

Mr. Morrion, an ally of Mr Turnball, won a three - way battle for the leadship. The other two contenders were former home affairs minister Peter Dutton and foreign minister Julie Bishop. Mr Turnbull opted not to contest the vote.
Liberal Party whip Nola Marino announced: "The successful candidate was Scott Morrison. He won this vote 45-40 against Peter Dutton.
"In relation to the deputy's position, this was won in a overwhelming sense, in a majority, an absolute majority, by Josh Frydenberg."
Mr Morrison said he would not call an election "any time soon" and his top priority was to help farmers in New South Wales struggling through one of the worst droughts in 50 years.

"We must never allow the politics of race or division or of setting Australians against each other to become part of our political culture."
It is Australia's sixth change of prime minister in 11 years, prolonging an era of extraordinary political instability.
The leadership battle was sparked on Tuesday by an unsuccessful challenge by Mr Dutton, who narrowly lost a vote against Mr Turnbull.
Under intense pressure to call a second vote, Mr Turnbull convened a party meeting on Friday after receiving a letter signed by the majority of party members calling for a change of leader.
Before the ballot, Mr Turnbull said that if he lost the prime ministership he would resign from parliament, leaving the new government facing a by-election for his Sydney seat that could see it lose its one-seat majority.

Mr Turnbull came to power in a coup in September 2015.
A social liberal and multi-millionaire former merchant banker, he struggled to appeal to conservative voters and only narrowly won a general election in 2016.
Mr Morrison, a devout Christian, is widely regarded as a conservative who respects moderates but has a tough stance on immigration.
The 50-year-old rose to public prominence when the conservative coalition government was first elected under prime minister Tony Abbott in 2013 as the minister who stopped asylum seekers from attempting to reach Australian shores by boat.
Mr Morrison's victory was welcomed by financial markets, which have been rocked by the political instability.
Australian shares edged higher on Friday, rebounding after three days of losses that saw the benchmark fall 1.5%.
The Liberal Party is the senior partner in the ruling conservative coalition that will face an election by May 2019.
The Liberal-National government has consistently trailed opposition Labor in opinion polls in recent months.
